The Inertia

Not since 1997 have CT surfers plied their trade at the famous Indonesian left that is G-Land. And it made for one of the more news-filled days this season. John John Florence showed up for competition wearing a knee brace, which had the surf world nervously buzzing online as one of the most popular surfers of this generation again battles leg ailments (you can hear more about that, below).

Gabriel Medina, who missed the first half of the year, ended the day much the way he ended last season: on fire, putting on a show and looking as though he’d never missed a heat. The conditions were pristine, to say the least, allowing the world’s best to do their thing. A lay day has been called for Sunday with WSL officials making the next call on Monday.
