Day of the year. This was the set of the day and every wave in this set seemed bigger than the last. The third wave in this picture, Jack Robinson caught, and it was quite possibly the biggest wave ever ridden at this spot.
Peter Mendia came to Kandui Resort for the annual Billabong Surf With a Pro trip, he was having too much fun so he extended his stay and got barreled like this for another 10 days.
Coconuts and barrels.
Stop and stare.
Nate Behl’s confidence and prowess in heavier waves is impressive. I don’t think there is too many waves like this back home for Nate to practice on.
Having this wave out front of Kandui Resort means our guests can wait for the conditions to come together and score epic sessions like this with no one around.
Ray Wilcoxen shows what makes Kandui Resort so special. He is one of the nicest humans you will ever meet and charges harder than most.
Leonardo Fioravanti’s first-ever trip to the Mentawai’s. It's safe to say he will be returning to the Mentawai’s again. Leonardo is one of the most impressive surfers I have seen out here.
Always stoked to see one of Kandui Resort's guests get the wave of their life. Matt Coder came over with his wife on their honeymoon and got this as a bonus wedding gift.
Nate Behl loves boobies and doing giant airs over dry end sections.
Nate Behl also loves getting barreled. Nate spent a few months out at Kandui and was possibly the most-barreled-person on earth during that period.
Koa Rothman visited Kandui Resort along with Dean Morrison. The forecast looked insane but we were plagued with bad winds. But we still snuck away to some hidden corners and scored some epic waves.
Dean Morrison was enjoying a catch-up with his buddy Mark Matthews around the corner at another resort when the winds switched offshore. There was no time to grab his own board so he stole one of Mark's and got drained until the sun went down.
Perks of the job. Mario Quiros, Kandui Resort's doctor/medic, in between looking after our guests, gets to surf perfect glassy barrels.
Another perfect ending to another perfect day.
