The Inertia

It was back in mid-2017 when Wavegarden first released video of its newest technology: The Cove. Promises then were almost too good to be true. Especially the part that promised 1,000 great waves per hour.

Since its unveiling, Wavegarden has entered into contracts with developers across the globe to license its Cove technology, but a facility in the U.K. just beat them all to the punch becoming the first public facility to get up and running. And man do the waves look insane.

The Wave, located in the English town of Bristol, plans to officially open to the public in November, and until then we imagine the staff there are running amok taking advantage of having the place to themselves.

“I can’t really put into words what it is like to see these perfect waves rolling down the fields at last,” said Nick Hounsfield, founder of The Wave, in a press release. “The opportunity to improve lives through these waves is enormous and it’s something we are really excited to share with everyone.”

According to the release, The Wave will be open year-round with a one-hour surf costing between £40-45 (or USD $50-60) for an adult and £30-35 ($38-45) for children depending on the time of year and day of the week.

Without a body in the frame, it’s hard to tell how big these waves are, but Wavegarden claims six feet.
