Last week, we reported that The Wave in Bristol, U.K. became the first soon-to-be-public surf park in the world to begin testing Wavegarden’s Cove technology at scale. The thing about that initial video is the surf looked dreamy, no doubt, but without a body as a frame of reference, size was difficult to judge.
Claims have been made that at full steam, the facility could produce six-foot surf. But, everything looks smaller on a phone or computer screen.
Before the place’s grand opening, though, a crop of Europe’s best surfers got the nod to come lay waste to the place and with actual surfers riding waves, we definitely get a better sense of what the surf at The Wave is actually like. Pretty damn fun.
