My name is Karl Mackie. I live with my wife and our two little groms on the north coast of Cornwall. It’s a beautiful place to live in the UK. We have a really creative and soulful community here with plenty of waves throughout the year, and my love of the sea and photography probably go hand in hand as I spend a lot of my time shooting mainly film, in and around the surf scene, wherever I might be in the world.
I’m an obsessive maker of things – be they surfboards, handplanes, picture frames or wooden crate shelves, it’s one of life’s great hidden pleasures. In real terms, I founded, and run the creative agency Mackie Studio where we maintain that the passion I have always felt from the ocean, art, photography and surfing, in all it’s mediums, flows from the roots of the business. Our clients and collaborations in the surf world are Noosa Longboards, Neon Wetsuits, Kite Surfing, Surfers Path (RIP), Kelp, etc.
