May 4th ushered in the biggest swell of the year down at the Wedge in Newport Beach. The strong swell struck from the south, creating massive waves and a handful of some of the best wipeouts you’ve ever seen. Amongst the utter savagery that seemed to be going down ever other second, there were a few moments of triumph, as a few locals successfully navigated down the treacherous face, upon which the dozens of spectators on the beach erupted in cheer.
