The event title sponsor Drug Aware is a program focused on enabling youth to better understand the risks associated with the misuse of drugs. In Drug Aware’s own words: “Drug Aware is a program that targets young people with messages about drug use that focus on the prevention of use and associated harm.”
The 2015 Drug Aware Margaret River Pro has a forecasted swell approaching that has the world’s best surfers and fans anticipating a likely historic run of surf at Margaret River’s Main Break, and possibly at The Box. Although height forecasts vary from XL to XXXL, it seems certain that the 2015 Drug Aware Margaret River Pro will be a remarkable event.
The men’s defending champion, Michel Bourez, will be looking to kick start his season at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro. Finishing equal 25th at both of the opening two events of the 2015 WCT have adversely transposed Michel from a probable 2015 world title contender to possibly being eliminated from the WCT.
Defending and back-to-back women’s event champion, Carissa Moore, will be searching for her 4th consecutive win at the Margaret River Pro. Carissa’s form this year has been stronger than ever, as her surfing and results have proved to be leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the women on the WCT.
Current men’s Jeep ratings leader, Mick Fanning, fresh from winning his 4th Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, will be keenly focused to continue his heat by heat dominating blitz of all takers at this year’s Margaret River Pro. After a disastrous equal 13th place finish at the 2014 Margaret River Pro, Mick will be certainly laying it all on the line this week.
