The Inertia

When the sun rises over Lakey Peak, it’s generally a good bet that it’s going to be glassy. Right now, the sunrise is about 6:00 am, so if you’re on it early, you’ve got hours and hours of ridiculously good waves. On December 18th, the low tide was about an hour before sunrise, so the tide was on the push. A lot of the time when you see Lakey Peak, you see it for its famously hollow rights, but that only works when there’s a bit more water on the reef. But on low tides? Look left.
