The Inertia

I grew up a snowboarder and wanna-be surfer on the East Coast. I can recall vividly the first formal clothing I actually purchased for myself. I was a few weeks removed from college graduation and about to enter the corporate world in Washington D.C. My future boss told me to pick up some “conservative” suits and shirts and show up ready to start climbing that corporate ladder.

As I progressed through the first year of my job, I found that my closet had turned into 50 shades of blue. And worse, I couldn’t find shirts that fit. They were either too baggy around the arms and stomach, or so tight I couldn’t button the top button.

Fast forward a few years and I was able to escape my normal corporate gig and got a job in media sales working internationally. This job took me around Asia and Europe where I discovered (1.) custom clothing and (2.) that proper fit makes an amazing difference. If you don’t believe me, check out the next baggy shirted dude walking out of the bar at happy hour. Muffin tops billowing out of your stomach and back look ridiculous.

Even though I discovered great fitting shirts, I still found that they were hard to come by and the selection was extremely limited. Traveling tailors came around only so infrequently, and online custom clothing companies were selling the same shades of white, blue, and white and blue pinstripes.

I started my company, Pacific Issue, to solve this problem. We make shirts that fit your body and your personality. Shirts that you can dress up in like the grown ass man that you are, but still feel like you are expressing the non-corporate you, all while actually fitting your body type. Seriously, we take nine measurements as opposed to two in your standard off-the-rack shirt.

I’m in business school now, and continue to be an adult with responsibilities, much to my dismay. Over the past six month,s I have worked long hours with a classmate of mine to make Pacific Issue a reality. We’ve been through three beta tests to perfect our shirts, and we’ve found that people really dig them! We’re now running a crowdfunding campaign to rid the world of boring, baggy shirts. We just raised 130% of our goal in 48 hours, and we’re looking to blow that number out of the water!

If you, like me, are now a grownup and have to dress the part, but still want to express your own personality, all in a shirt that fits better than any you’ve ever owned, check us out!
