The Inertia

It truly was the dog days of summer in the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend. The beach was packed as spectators gathered to watch the World Dog Surfing Championships. While all of the dogs put on an impressive show, Santa Cruz’s Skyler Henard took home the win.

“I like the gathering,” Pacifica’s Patrick Sayres told NBC. “It’s a big event and a lot of people from all over come and join us. And then seeing the dogs actually surf is really kind of a funny thing to watch and they’re really good surfers.”

In addition to surfing, the event had mobile pet adoptions, a dog costume contest, and a special “yappy hour.”
