Google “Cyclone Seth” right now and you’re going to come across nothing but severe weather warnings and high-surf advisories. Australians have been fed update after update about the potential damage the ex-tropical storm could heave on their coasts, but as any surfer knows, the other side of those storm headlines features waves. And Cyclone Seth delivered them in spades at Kirra over the weekend.
This was no surprise to anybody keeping an eye on the storm over the holidays. “Seth Watch” was on shortly after Christmas with solid surf forecasted for the New Year weekend (and level-headed warnings for dangerous conditions as well). As you can see, by the time that all shaped up, the right-hand point was in classic form. Considering we’re only a few days into 2022, this isn’t a terrible way to kick things off.
