For both men and women, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and SeaVees is taking the opportunity to raise funds for colon cancer research by donating all the proceeds from an auction of a custom-made Reynolds “Renny” Yater Spoon longboard.
This year marks SeaVees 50th anniversary and to celebrate the occasion SeaVees has created The Legend Series. This series teams SeaVees with select legends to “create limited edition items that embody the spirit of SeaVees and the authentic era of 1960s California.” Renowned surfboard shaper, Reynolds “Renny” Yater, shaped the original Yater Spoon in 1964 and created “the thinnest, lightest and most maneuverable longboard to date.” The shape continues to be a favorite among longboards even today.
Yater has shaped a custom Spoon exclusively for SeaVees. The longboard is being auctioned off on eBay, and all the proceeds from the auction will go directly to colon cancer research. The online auction will run from March 16 to March 26, 2014, which means it has already begun. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time left for you to place your bid, possibly obtain a new, custom-made Spooner shaped by Yater himself and feel good about your money going to help find a cure for colon cancer.
