By now, it should be obvious that wave pools are changing surfing. Not just because it’s a wave made by the hand of man, and not just because it’s a wave in a chlorinated pool, but because the progression is progressing insanely fast. Scary fast. Can you imagine, just for a second, what it’s going to be like in 20 years? When all the kids coming up with waves that are nearly identical and available on demand are putting their skills, honed to a razor’s edge, to use on the tour?
Take, for example, young Cruz Dinofa. He is 11 years old. And he’s doing things on a surfboard that, as far as we know, haven’t been done before. While surfing at the Waco pool (the same place where the first finger flip Superman air was completed), Dinofa managed to stick a backside front flip. On a surfboard. At 11 years of age. Like we said: scary fast.
