Every day we woke up at 5:30 a.m and piled into a car or boat in hopes of scoring perfect waves. All the driving on bumpy dirt roads was definitely not anyone’s highlight, but at least the cars had air conditioning. We surfed a perfect beach break with only a few locals out almost every day. Our guide David Torres was a local Costa Rican who completely rips, and he is the most humble person you will ever meet. Plus, he’s so naturally gifted. He just got into photography and he’s already killing it. One day we made the long trek to Witch’s Rock and Ollie’s Point where we were greeted with 7-foot, offshore barrels. After a few three-hour sessions, we were all surfed out and could barely move our arms. Everybody in Costa Rica showed us pura vida and David always made sure that we scored good waves and good times. All the sunburns, rashes, jellyfish stings, and scolding hot sand runs were worth it.
