The Corona Open J-Bay 2023 is on… or it was. For day two of the competition, a slight bump in swell in the morning got the competitors out in the water, but promptly died out during the women’s event. As a result, only two heats were able to be completed.
Luckily, as we wait for swell to return and the competition with it, Canal Woohoo has posted some freesurfing footage from before the waves disappeared. Filipe Toledo, Gabriel Medina, John John Florence and others all make appearances, giving us a brief glimpse into what we might have in store when conditions improve. All we have to do is appease whatever Lovecraftian deep-sea deity the WSL has angered this time.
