Conner Coffin surfing on the North Shore of Oahu is a good watch. His surfing influences are pretty clear, and the North Shore is a perfect place to put those influences on display. First, his wave riding is a mixture of old school power and new school flair. Second, he cut his chops on long right points, which translates into big old power carves, third, he’s watched a whole lot of Tom Curren, and fourth, he loves — LOVES — surfing on the North Shore. The waves there suit his kind of surfing down to the ground. Power surfers need powerful waves, and if there’s one thing the North Shore has, it’s power. Hawaiian juice, as they say.
That’s why, when the CT surfers landed in Hawaii, Conner decided he’d stay a few extra weeks. The winter season just didn’t want to end, and he wrung out every last drop.
