Between spending time in the chemistry labs of UC San Diego and conducting field research for The Surfer Biome Project, Cliff Kapono managed to sneak away to the North Shore for a bit this month. When Cliff arrived on Oahu his good friend, Daniel Ito, lent him a fresh 6’6″ Raynor Surfboards five fin Bonzer to play with.
And while this winter has been a bit lackluster by North Shore standards, Cliff, that black bonzer, and I were able to link up for a few sessions away from the wave-starved masses. So here’s Cliff paying homage to the original stylemasters that paved the way out here, while also reminding us to adapt and make the most of any situation that comes your way.
