“Keep in mind that these are just my opinions,” CJ Nelson says. “Feel free to think differently.” That, of course, should go without saying. It doesn’t, though. CJ Nelson is saying that because mid-lengths often are on the receiving end of a whole lot of hate. Which is odd, if you think about it, because the only person who can hate on a mid-length is a person who isn’t riding one and is therefore not affected in any way.
To CJ, a mid-length is the perfect surfboard for any kind of point break. And since Kelly’s wave is similar to how a point break works, he took an eight-foot Firewire Outlier there and did what he does well: surf in a manner that is stylish, relaxed, and just plain awesome.
