Chris Burkard’s career has basically been spawned by the sea and he takes pride in his ocean roots. But his image-making has become much more than surf photography. His photos capture the real feel of a place, the landscape, not just the surf, which makes people from all backgrounds want to be where he’s been. Even if it means five millimeter wetsuits and snow-covered beaches.
Part of that pull is the places he loves to visit: “Wilderness in its purest, most visible form,” he says. But it’s just as much his sharp eye and ruggedly-detailed photo skills that bring people in. And he’s now using that image power to impact and improve the world. Creative work can galvanize social change and inspire us to be our best. Burkard’s is certainly doing that right now. He shares his approach to creativity, innovation, and how to make an impact through your creative work as part of the packed lineup that is the 2020 EVOLVE Summit, where we celebrate the accomplishments of luminaries in the worlds of surf and outdoors.
Our full feature with Chris Burkard will be available for free this Thursday, December 17. Sign up here and learn more about the rest of our 2020 EVOLVE lineup. EVOLVE 2020 is presented by White Claw with support from Kindhumans.
