Carlsbad local Chris Abad suffered a horrific injury while surfing last week and he needs your help.
Member of the SPY family and great friend of The Inertia, Chris Abad, recently broke his neck while surfing in Oceanside, California. The fractured C1 vertebrae that landed Chris in the hospital is tragic, but it should serve as a reminder that an injury like this could happen to any of us and at any time. The thing that we all love so much could be taken away in an instant. However, Chris’ family isn’t giving up. They are determined to get him back in the water.

The Abad family has started the Help Abad Surf Again! campaign in hopes that the surf community will come together to be a part of Chris’ road to recovery. Early reports after a surgery to repair his vertebrae give Chris a chance to make a full recovery, but the road ahead is long and, of course, costly. Any donation, large or small, will help cover the costs of the airlift, Chris’ medical bills and his road to recovery. We’re all sending our prayers and positive vibes to Chris and his family.
