The Inertia

During the Jeep World Longboard Championship in China last December, contest directors held an expression session in between the semifinals and the final. During these expression sessions, you never know what the world’s best longboarders will get in to when they’re sent out and allowed to cut loose without the stresses associated with the normal judging criteria.

Nic Jones from Buderim on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia headed out with two boards under his arm—one longboard and one shortboard. With his brother Harri riding shotgun with another shortboard in hand, I was anxious to see what wild expressions of surfing were about to go down. Of course, if you can grab it, you would try the gold jersey on for size just for good measure. Nic paddled into a great wave on his longboard with his shortboard under his chin. Here are a few images of the antics that transpired.
