After years of turmoil over big wave competitions at the infamous heavy water location, the Mavericks Awards have emerged as a stabilizer – a way to keep the competitive atmosphere going all season long with its video contest.
Saturday, October 1, the first Mavericks Festival will kick off the 2022-2023 big wave season in Half Moon Bay, Calif. with music, food, and plenty of big wave chargers in attendance. The family-friendly event will include a morning paddle out to officially open the big wave season, a live rescue demo by the U.S. Coast Guard, and performances by The Expendables, Jaleh, and Coast Tribe, as well as a whole lot more.
