Chasing Waves – Kickstarter Project from Kenji C on Vimeo.
I recently read an article on The Inertia called “Swell: A Year of Waves” by Pete Taras with Evan Slater. Their work inspired me to pursue a dream of mine for many years, which was to photograph some of the world most beautiful and secluded wave breaks from around the world. There are tons of amazing surf photographers which photograph surfers on waves, which is great. I don’t consider myself a surf photographer, even though I photograph the surf. Rather I consider myself a wave photographer because I like to shoot empty barrels. I’ve been doing this for nearly six years now (before the Clark Craze), and I strictly like to shoot waves in an artistic way.
Finally, I stopped procrastinating and launched my first Kickstarter Project called Chasing Waves. The project’s goal is to raise enough funds to travel to South America and capture some amazing breaks in a picturesque way. I’m confident I will get some incredible photos of waves that have never been photographed in this type of style.
The project can be seen here
So have a look, if you’re interested in this type of artwork, please consider backing the project. Since this is not a charity project, anyone who supports a kickstarter project receives rewards. Some of my rewards for this project include prints in many different forms (metal prints, prints on pearl paper, calendars, postcards, etc…).
Even if you are not interested in supporting the project (no problem) you may be interested in seeing in seeing how we shoot them. The video includes footage of how it’s done. Please pass it to anyone else who may be interested as well. Thanks for your time and support.
