You may remember, some years back, when Kelly Slater revealed he had a friend named Charlie Goldsmith? Not just a regular friend, either. Goldsmith was helping Slater with whatever, exactly, Goldsmith helps people with. The self-described “energy-healer,” however, has run into a spot of legal trouble after he was charged with assaulting a teenage boy. Goldsmith denies the allegations, but he’s slated for a court date at the end of October.
“I am deeply disappointed that I have been charged with one count of common assault,” he told the Daily Mail. “…I strenuously deny the allegations and have instructed lawyers to defend the charge.”
Goldsmith, who is 43 and happens to be the nephew of Olivia Newton-John, stands accused of assaulting one of four boys who were hitting rocks with a golf club near his home in Byron Shire in New South Wales, Australia.
According to reports, after Goldsmith was alerted to the fact that an acquaintance’s car had been hit by a rock as she drove down The Strand at New Brighton, he decided to confront the teens. Authorities say that Goldsmith took a hold of one of the boys and ordered them to sit while he gave them a piece of his mind.
“I was made aware of a group of local youths using golf clubs to hit rocks, resulting in damage to a passing car,” Goldsmith said to the Daily Mail. “I assisted the individual whose car was damaged. I am deeply disappointed that I have been charged with one count of common assault. I deny any violent conduct or physical contact with the teens.”
