This was the most incredible — the most incredible thing that I have experienced. Within minutes of being in the air, we look down and see dolphins doing flips ‘n shit below us. As luck would have it, due to flight path laws (it’s really close to the airport), we wouldn’t be able to hover, so alas we were winging it and doing laps around the coast. Nonetheless, there is a large portion of my brain set up with a highlight reel of the day on repeat. For those who haven’t been there, it is such an incredible place to be. You have the gnarliest waves in the world breaking 10 meters from you, which draws in the worlds gnarliest surfers, which in turn attracts the world’s gnarliest photographers and videographers. Probably similar to a Roman death pit with a massive audience, plus carnage.
I have shot everybody from Kelly Slater to Koby Abberton eating shit out there — and that excites me. Who knows what will take place on Sunday (Saturday for you Yanks)…
