Oh, Waimea. The most famous of Hawaiian waves, save for maybe Pipeline. The Bay is a central player in surfing’s story, and it’s for good reason. It’s a magical place, and when it’s really working, it is a sight to see. It’s like looking back into the sands of time: big boards, wide stances, and party waves. It seems to be less of a testosterone pit than other waves on the North Shore—probably because of the sort of reverence everyone has for Waimea.
