“I don’t have to dress like a surfer to be a surfer. Most of the guys that dress like surfers… they’re not really surfers.” Save the Waves Film Festival recently premiered the latest episode of Brainwork, which dives into the life of surfer and actor Nic Lamb. And from the looks of things, it appears Nic is bringing class and charisma back into surfing.
Of course, like most surfers, Nic enjoys a nice pair of sandals and boardies. However, there’s a side to Nic that most surfers can’t relate to—private planes, Lamborghinis, tailored Armani suits, and a private yacht, for crying out loud. There’s obviously much more to life than just surfing, and filmmaker Kyle Buthman sought to elucidate those elements most surf films lack.
“The name Nic Lamb often brings up more questions than answers,” said filmmaker Kyle Buthman. “Why did he leave Santa Cruz? What’s he doing in Los Angeles? Is he really trying to be an actor? In this episode of Brainwork we go to Venice Beach to get some answers from the man himself. What we found was Nic is focused as he’s ever been—growing, training, and trying to find a balance between big waves and the big screen.”
Join this enigmatic character in the water, at the breakfast table, and in a 270-degree-below-zero cryochamber as he walks us through the Nic Lamb of yesterday, tomorrow, and today. As it turns out, Nic Lamb isn’t just a big-wave surfer and an actor. Check him out around the 8:00 marker to see some serious high performance shredding in Santa Cruz.
