The Inertia

Just when it seemed like Ben Gravy had caught every single novelty wave in the known universe, he found a new one. While we’ve seen him catch bow waves before, most notably from tanker ships and a series of ferries, this time he upped the ante by going bigger – way bigger. In his latest video, Gravy traveled to Miami to catch a wave kicked up by the largest cruise ship in the world.

The cruise ship in question was the Icon of The Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean. The Icon came into service in 2024, is 1,196.7 feet long and has a gross tonnage of a whopping 248,663. It’s safe to say that the thing has a pretty significant wake.

“This could be the biggest moment of my novelty career,” exclaimed Ben Gravy in the water, with the Icon bearing down on him. After the behemoth passed, he had a fleeting chance at catching a head-high wave in ankle deep water. When he finally did, he hitched a ride to a new high in his novelty career, and possibly an entry into the history books.
