The Inertia

In his latest YouTube video, Ben Gravy oversees a peaceful French inletm, as an oncoming storm starts to stir up the air around him. “This is mind blowing,” he says. “Today there’s going to be a 15-foot tide. Right now we have an almost negative one-foot tide. By tonight, this is going to be filled up all the way above this wall.” It was exactly the right conditions for some classic Ben Gravy novelty wave shenanigans – European edition.

After a brief detour to eat a croissant, Ben returned to find that, like a miniature Seven Ghosts, the tide swing  had begun to to stir up actual surfable waves in the previously placid inlet. Soon after, he was joined by fellow YouTuber Jorgann Couzinet, who had already filmed a video of his own at the same location, for a session Gravy called “true European novelty.”

“Best wave I ever caught in France,” said Gravy afterwards. “I went all the way around the corner. When you get over there, it’s dry concrete and a right-hander peeling off of it and just wrapping around the concrete.”
