Ben Gravy is home again. After a solid Hawaiian vacation in which he pretty much cleared the bucket list (Pipeline with Jamie O’Brien, surfing the biggest wave of his life, and riding the Waimea river wave in the dead of night), he’s back to novelty waves and wetsuits. Take, for example, the wave he surfs in his most recent vlog. It’s the epitome of novelty wave. “I’m still pretty much in disbelief at the waves we saw while tanker surfing in South Carolina,” he said. “I’m claiming the surf went mega!”
He’s no stranger to surfing waves created by ships, but this one’s on a different level. Because of the draft and the enormous weight of a tanker, the wave is substantially bigger. And it’s perfect for someone like Ben Gravy.
