Ben Gravy has surfed a lot of waves. But during the recent Hurricane Elsa, when he scored a bombing outer reef session, he called it the best surf he’s seen in New Jersey. Now, that’s a big claim, given that Jersey sees some big, barreling conditions each winter. But a mid-summer, outer-reef barrel session would stoke anyone’s fire, especially when outer reefs don’t normally set up the way this one did on this special day for Mr. Gravy. The stoke was absolutely real.
