Ben Gravy’s been out there scouring the world for novelty waves for a while now, usually on his trademark soft-top board. However, that may be a thing of the past, as he has just launched a lineup of honest-to-goodness fiberglass and resin boards.
In his latest post, Gravy outlines the years-long process of having his first boards produced. The three models are shaped by Brian Brown, a former Superbrand shaper who moved on to found Algorithm surfboards. Brown and Gravy have a long history, from Brown shaping boards in a barn owned by Gravy’s family, to collaborating on Superbrand models while Gravy was sponsored by the company. They connected a few years ago, and the result is three Ben Gravy and Algorithm co-branded surfboard models.
No doubt Gravy will still make appearances on the foamies we’ve come to associate him with, but it will be interesting to see what he can do on a craft that he had a hand in designing and producing.
