The Inertia

Ben Gravy is finally back surfing after a months-long hiatus due to a bicep injury. A few weeks ago, he announced his triumphant return to the waves, and since then has been making up for lost time. His most recent adventure took him back to his favorite New Jersey break El Slammo, where he came face to face with a massive thresher shark.

Before the action started, Gravy gave an update on his burgeoning surfboard brand. As he dropped off a delivery of boards to Heritage Surf and Sport, he explained the special significance the classic New Jersey surf shop had for him. “Heritage was my first sponsor, so the fact that 25 years later it’s coming full circle and they’re going to be carrying my board line, is amazing,” he explained.

The next stop was Ben’s favored home break of El Slammo. However, when the crew arrived, they were confronted by a surf fisherman tangling with what they estimated to be a 10-foot thresher shark. Somehow still undeterred, Gravy paddled out for a head to head “competition” with a local grom. After being land-bound for months, nothing was keeping him out.
