The Inertia

While Ben Gravy’s latest European adventure has mostly been a delightful romp through France, his latest episode got a little more serious. Rather than exploring novelty tidal waves or crashing Jamie O’Brien’s honeymoon, the latest video from the YouTuber documented Gravy hazarding a sketchy paddle-out in more serious conditions.

Before the real meat of the video began, Gravy was joined by Leo Fioravanti for an early session that was packed with almost entirely closeouts, but had a few hidden gems here and there.  Then the real test came from the second session. “Kind of stressed right now,” said a concerned-looking Gravy, as he suited up on shore. “It should be all good now, but the tide has been so low all day, that I finally decided that I’m going to go way way way out to the outer bar. It’s a far paddle out and none of the boys are around, so we’re just going for it.”

After braving a lengthy paddle-out in uncertain conditions, Gravy emerged out the back to find it was all worth it. According to his note in the video caption, “If I knew how mellow it would be once I got out there I would’ve paddled it much earlier & spent the day cresting into mega bombs out the back!”
