Constructive interference, in very basic terms, is when two waves are at the same place at the same time and their amplitudes add together. It’s also the reason why the Wedge can throw out such a massive and unpredictable wave. Waves coming in from the ocean meet those reflected by the jetty, and thus a nightmare is birthed.
BEEFS T.V.’s bread and butter is recording the non-stop carnage that results from said constructive interference. The latest video cuts together a montage of some all-time great wipeouts and annihilations from the Wedge and a few other Southern California spots.
“The gnarliest backwash and zipper waves captured over the years throughout Southern California!” reads the description. “Oddly satisfying flares and attempts to ride Mother Ocean’s bucking broncos! Some spiced in vintage lo-fi footage of past radicalness. Fortunately nobody was injured in any of the clips!”
