Editor’s Note: The original post mistakenly identified this location as Benelux when the video was instead about the surfers from Benelux (not the region), surfing the southern shores of Europe. The post has been updated accordingly.

What a fantastic introduction. These sorts of edits — the ones about those rippers from hidden regions or coastlines barely referred to ever, let alone in the context of surfing — often times are lost in the translation of beautiful backdrops and unexplored breaks. But the effortless expertise exemplified by the barrel barons of Benelux (a union comprised of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) speaks loudly and clearly.

Benelux

And what a place to put on a show.

Benelux-2

Ultimately, whether we acknowledge the barrel barons of Benelux or not, they exist. And, quite frankly, the surf community on the northern coast of Europe are probably quite content surfing their southern shores without the bother of the outside world. But in this day and age, when you’re surfing like that, staying “secret” simply isn’t going to happen.

Did I mention they get really, really barreled?
