The Inertia

There are few places on the East Coast steeped in more surfing lore than Avalon Pier in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. For generations, this swell magnet and its many surrounding sandbars have provided Outer Banks locals with high-performance wedges and thick barrels when it’s on, and rideable peelers when it’s flat everywhere else.

This spring, the action has been as hot as it has ever been at the prolific beach break. While local professional stalwarts like Noah Snyder and Jesse Hines keep the bar elevated, the up-and-coming crew of young rippers are starting to put it on in a big way. These images were captured during a recent session at the fabled peak with an all-star lineup cashing in on classic conditions and warming spring temperatures.
