Foiling is already terrifyingly fast, but what if you add one horsepower to the mix? On a trip to Indonesia, Kai Lenny rode a foil while getting towed by a horse.
“We’re literally in foiling paradise. We’ve towed with a Jet Ski, towed in on a tin boat, paddled into waves. Now we’re going with the original horsepower. Literally a horse,” says Kai at the top of the video on his YouTube channel. On a recent foiling session in Indo, Kai jumped in the water and his wife saddled up to see how much juice they could get out of the original eco-friendly transport option.
It turned out to be almost too much, as Kai almost ripped his arms out of their sockets on the first run. However, once they had it dialed in, Kai’s equine endeavor worked out shockingly well. Lenny went for one of his trademark backflips, and the horses themselves seemed to be totally unbothered by the workload of dragging man attached to a floating hatchet.
Kai seemed as shocked as anyone that they managed to pull it off, “It was way easier than I thought, they are so strong,” he said after returning to the beach. “I thought I needed more horsepower, but one horse is like 200 horsepower in a car.”
