The United States Embassy in Australia shared a video of Kennedy learning to surf at Kirra Beach in Australia via their Instagram. The caption reads: “Ambassador Kennedy is in Queensland, and what better way to start her first visit to the Sunshine State than a surf lesson…with three-time world champion surfer, Mick Fanning, at Kirra Beach! Huge thank you @mfanno for an unforgettable afternoon! What a legend.”
Not only did Kennedy have her first surf lesson, but she nailed it, standing up on two waves. She shared a video talking about her gratitude for visiting the Sunshine State.
“I’m so lucky to be here in this beautiful place, learning about the work they’re doing to protect the reef, protect the ocean and all the creatures in it,” Kennedy said. “I’ve learned so much here in Queensland and I’ve made lots of new memories.”
