Remember when Jack Freestone and Alana Blanchard got together and formed surfing’s most powerful couple? Probably not, because it was something like 2013 and that’s too far back for the Instagram/ADHD generation. They are, and still were, the power couple to end all power couples. They’re surfing’s Brangelina, hot and fit and talented and oh-so-famous. And then, luck! They created a miracle. A human life. A living, breathing, baby, full of vim and vigor and poop!
Baby Banks was born in December, and the pair could not have been happier. “I knew birth was going to be hard,” she wrote at the time. “But wow, that was so much more intense then I could have ever imagined. Women are truly amazing! I couldn’t have done it without Jack Freestone. He was there every step of the way. We are so in love with this little guy.”
Now, nearly three months on, Banks is changing their lives, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. “We’re just kind of… taking turns surfing,” Alana says to the camera in her video update. “Jack lets me go surf in the morning and he’ll watch Banks so I just get one surf in. It’s really nice. We’re really finding a balance with everything. It was hard at first for me because I was just so used to doing so much… I used to surf a lot, like at least two times a day—but that’s fine, I don’t need to do that—and I would work out a bunch. Life is definitely different with Banks, and we absolutely love it.”
