The Inertia

There are a lot of wave pools that have sprouted up in the last decade or so. While all have a bit of a sci-fi feeling to them, none have quite so much as Surf Lakes, the giant plunger straight out of a Mad Max film.

It, like many other wave pools, has had its fair share of technical issues. It’s understandable, given the fact that wave pools are still relatively new things and water is tough to move. With a big metal plunger, steam shooting into the air, and that Mad Max Australian landscape as a backdrop, it’s tough to beat the looks of the Yeppoon pool. Tayler Jensen, a 4-time longboarding champion, headed to Australia for a testing day.

It’s worth noting that Jensen is not a short man. “At a lofty 6’4,” Surf Lakes wrote, “he was able to put his large frame and board into some barrels and had some stoked words after experiencing the facility!”
