Once in a blue moon, a sandbar gets built up near Rock Piles. That particular stretch of sand, of course, is most famous for Pipeline, Waimea, and Sunset, but Rockpiles and Rocky Point and Gums, etcetera, are all part and parcel of the magic that is the Seven Mile Miracle. But on this particular day, the strange new sandbar was creating some seriously good waves.
Everyone who’s anyone took a spin, from John John to Jamie O’Brien. When things died down a little, the new wave was close enough to Pipeline for Koa to simply paddle over to it. Nice to be within spitting distance of some of the best waves on Earth, right?
