Getting to some waves requires a trek through the jungle or two flights and a 12-hour bus ride. Other waves conveniently exist right in your backyard. And sometimes perfect A-frame barrels are just down the road, guarded by the US Navy’s fleet of fighter jets, aircraft carriers, and some of the most highly trained tactical assassins on the planet.
I saw more spitting barrels during this two-hour session than I’ve seen in the past two years combined. So here is one of Southern California’s premier beach breaks looking mighty fine during July’s visit from Hurricane Fabio.
