The wave at Margaret River Main Break is a good one. Good enough for a CT event, at least, which is pretty dang good. But everyone knows when the Box goes off, that’s where the excitement lies. Just across the bay from Main Break, the Box is short, sweet, and packs a serious punch.
It’s not a wave for the faint hearted, and back in 2019, the Margaret River Pro event coordinators had a look and decided it was a good time to make the surfers surf the Box. In the round of 32, it went bonkers, and since the Margaret River event has opened its window, the WSL decided now would be a good time to look back at it.
Italo Ferreira put on a serious show in 2019, one that was talked about for quite some time. It was a show made more amazing by the fact that Italo had never even surfed the Box. But after getting a few to get his feet in the wax, it appeared as though he grew up surfing the place. Being a world champ must be nice, right?
