Last week, Puerto Escondido presented his own unique show. This beach has powerful waves that hit the sandbars with tons of water, and any big wave surfer knows that is one of the most dangerous waves in the world, especially in May, when the first massive south pacific swells hit the coast of Zicatela.
There is no channel to get in the lineup, there is no safe zone when you are out there, and big wave surfers such as Shane Dorian, Garrett McNamara, Derek Dunfee, Grant “Twiggy” Baker, Mark Healey, Cesar Petroni, Oscar Moncada, Will Dillon, Coco Nogales, and the Long brothers are the usual crowd when the things get really heavy out there.
Puerto can hold any swell. Just a paddling in one of those swells can be a life threatening experience for every human that tries to deal with that ocean.
The following images were captured by photographers Eduardo Amaro and Andres Petroni, there are also pictures I took myself from the biggest swells to hit Puerto ever.
