John John Florence is a professional. You don’t become one of the best surfers on the planet by not innovating, and Florence is good at that. Better than most, in fact. Part of innovation means trying new things, honing the skills down to a razor’s edge, discarding the bits and pieces that might not work as well, and figuring out how to use some of those bits and pieces when necessary.
When it comes to equipment, John John Florence likes to test out new things, so with a fresh northwest swell in the water and glassy conditions, Florence paddled out to Gas Chambers. Ross Williams was on the beach watching with a critical coach’s eye as he tested a variety of surfboards. Eli Hanneman, Billy Kemper, Mahina Maeda, Taro Watanabe, Ezra Sitt, Koa Rothman, and many other rippers, were out there too, and the conditions looked really fun for a test drive.
