The Inertia

The Perfect Chapter is in the books. It was an event that won’t be forgotten for a long, long time. Carcavelos delivered the goods, and the goods were big, hollow tubes. You would be forgiven if you missed the live stream — time zones are a bitch sometimes — but lucky for you, the highlight reel is a banger.

It is an event that is all about the barrel. Competitors are chosen for their tube-wrangling ability, the venue is chosen for the quality of its tubes, and when those two things come together, it’s a beautiful thing.

After an hour-or-so of morning sickness, the waves began to clean themselves up. The wind switched, the swell pulsed, and before anyone knew it, the beach break turned into exactly what the organizers were hoping for. And with the exception of a very small lull around low tide, it kept it up all day.

Anthony Walsh walked away with the trophy, but in an event like this, everyone’s a winner… spectators included.
