Shipsterns Bluff is a wonder of the surfing world. When it big and nasty, it is without a doubt, one of the heaviest waves on the planet. Caleb Graham scored a seat on boat for day he won’t ever forget. Here’s what he had to say about it:
In October of last year, a good mate and I decided to rent a van and do a long overdue Tassie roadtrip. A few days into our trip, I saw the charts start to light up for the state’s most famous wave. It was still too far out to call it, but as the time got closer the conditions didn’t change. With a seat secured on a boat for the day, I had front row seats to see a wave I’d always wanted to score. Although the swell didn’t quite hit like it was predicted to, there was still a few proper ones slipping through, just enough to see local legends Tyler and James Holmer-Cross, Mikey Brennan, and Jarrah Orphan do what they do best. Can’t wait to get back down!
