If you’re a person like Nathan Florence or John John Florence, you’re pretty used to surfing perfect waves in the ocean. They both live right smack in the middle of a stretch of sand that produces some of the finest waves on earth, and when that 7-mile stretch of sand isn’t working, they’re in the enviable position of being able to simply jump on a plane and go somewhere that is. In this case, they went somewhere where swell forecasts are a thing of the past: Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch.
The Florence brothers, along with a group of their best friends, spent a few days in California’s cow country scoring Kelly’s man-made wonder/monster, and whatever your stance is on wave pools, you cannot deny that the wave looks insanely fun. If you pulled up to your local spot and saw it rifling around the point or over the reef, you would be sprinting to get to it. Case in point: the brothers Florence, with all those perfect waves in their back yard, are frothing just as hard as always.
