The Inertia

I was interested in how pro surfers have been dealing with the COVID-19 shutdown the entire world has been dealing with. So I reached out to five prominent wave riders to get their perspectives, explore what they’re doing in their daily lives, and how they’ve been impacted during the quarantine. This series delves into each of their personal explorations during this unprecedented time. These are the Corona Convos.

The first in my lineup was Brett Simpson, a CT veteran and the coach for the USA Olympic Surf Team. We discussed daily routines, regimens, lifestyles, frustrations, and the impact the Coronavirus has had on his life and his perception of the impact it has had on the world at large. Brett focuses his perspective on how we can get through this chaotic time – which to him comes down to unity, positivity, and open mindedness. All help battle the mental struggles of COVID-19, he says.

Editor’s Note: Francesca, or Frankie as we like to call her, is a talented competitor herself. She’s from Southern California and competes on the WSL’s Longboard Tour. Listen to all her conversations, here.
